本片改编自真实故事，1959年，记者艾德为了见到偶像海明威，只身到古巴探险。海明威与她的妻子玛丽隐居在那里的一处地产上。艾德见到了海明威，并和他成为了朋友，他们一起钓鱼，饮酒，畅谈。虽然时值古巴革命战争期间，艾德还是从这几年的生活中学到了许多哲理，而且明白一切英雄都也只是普通人。。A brother and sister move into an old seaside house they find abandoned for many years on the English coast.
