In the peace and quiet of their natural surroundings, which provide a refuge from the intense heat of the sun, the women go through the text and dress up in their ruched period costumes, while in easy conversation they share their secrets, and also have little adven...。现年26岁的北条钵子（大岛优子饰）是往返于新宿与箱根之间的浪漫特快贩售乘务员，她工作认真，值得信赖。与此相对，现实生活中则对衣来伸手、饭来张口的男朋友（洼田正孝饰）没有半点办法。这一天，钵子收到母亲（西牟田惠饰）的来信。当年父母离婚后，母亲便自暴自弃乱搞男女关系，导致母女心灵上的隔阂越来越大。当钵子被这封信弄得有些心烦意乱时，她在列车上又遭遇了涉嫌盗窃的奇怪男子樱庭洋一（大仓孝二饰）。在和樱庭纠缠的过程中，他们错过了列车而被迫在中途盘桓。期间樱庭看了钵子扔掉的信，由此判断女孩的母亲试图自杀。为了阻止这种可怕情况的发生，他强行带着钵子踏上了寻母的旅途……。
