本片讲述了盛唐年间，唐王设立“界安司”震慑群妖以安国运，但宰相李林甫以铲除界安司为代价与妖王达成协议，想换取人妖两族和平共处。多年后，妖王红叶姬妄想刺杀唐皇得以妖族称霸天下，最终众人合力，妖王红叶姬惨死在界安司后裔解子墨剑下，阴谋就此落败，国恨家仇皆得报的故事。。Two narrators, one seen and one unseen, discuss possible connections between a series of paintings. The on-screen narrator walks through three-dimensional reproductions of each painting, featuring real people, sometimes moving, in an effort to explain the series' significance.。
